The "Gallery of the Louvre" is a 6x9 foot painting containing 38 works of art from the Louvre in Paris. Samuel Morse wanted to 'rehang' Italian and French Renaissance masterpieces to educate Americans. Since America at the time had no museums to display European masterpieces, Morse's plan was to bring his large painting back to the United States and to
charge admission to the viewing public.
